On a sunny day filled with laughter and music, the Sunnyside community came together to celebrate Día del Niño, a special event hosted by Save the Children to honor children and families. The event, held on the Sunnyside Elementary School campus, brought together a wide range of community partners, including ELO-P, Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) social workers, Porterville College, and several other local organizations that provide valuable resources to families.
The celebration was more than just a fun afternoon—it was a heartfelt effort to support families, connect them with local resources, and create meaningful moments of joy and togetherness. Children enjoyed free tacos, lively music, and an exciting array of games and activities. Laughter echoed through the campus as families explored information booths, played together, and shared in the festive spirit.
A highlight of the day was the face painting station, where two mothers from the Kinder Readiness program volunteered their time and talents. With bright colors and steady hands, they brought smiles to dozens of children. "We love helping with events like these," one of the volunteers shared. "It makes us feel included, and it’s so special to give back to the community."
The event emphasized the power of collaboration, as all the participating organizations worked side by side to make the day a success. By combining resources and efforts, they not only informed parents of available support services but also created a safe and welcoming space where families could bond and celebrate.
Día del Niño at Sunnyside was more than just a party—it was a reminder of the strength that comes from unity, compassion, and a shared commitment to the well-being of children.
